Have You Seen Jesus?

Mark McAdowLast Sunday I shared about “The Rest of The Story” from Luke 24 when Jesus “showed up” in The Upper Room where the disciples were listening to the account of the two who had just met Jesus on the road to Emmaus. It was a “Gomer Pyle” moment – for those of you old enough to remember –“Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!” Not only where they surprised; they also were in shock. Once again they thought Jesus was a ghost. They just weren’t expecting to see Jesus! (I wasn’t expecting to see Jake Patton’s “Chicken on a Stick” performance last Sunday night at the talent show either, but it was great along with the other acts, too!)

How about you? Are you expecting to see Jesus today? Not the physical return of Christ – though it is possible – but the love of Jesus being lived out in this world. Where could you see Jesus today? Obviously in the pages of the Scripture, in a selfless act of kindness, in the eyes of a child, or maybe even on a Par Three at Trosper Golf Course! Are you looking for Jesus?

As I read my daily devotional today, My Utmost for His Highest, Oswald Chambers said this in part: “Being saved and seeing Jesus are not the same thing. Many people who have never seen Jesus have received and share in God’s grace. But once you have seen Him, you can never be the same. Other things will not have the appeal they did before… Have you seen Jesus? If so, you will want others to see Him too… When you see Him, you must tell, even if they don’t believe.”

Where have you seen Jesus this week? I’d love to know.

See you tonight for our authentic Mexican Dinner – complete with live music – and testimonies from our recent Mexico Team members and missionaries to Mexico. Hasta la vista!

In Christ,
Mark

P.S. Remember this Sunday is our Faith Promise Commitments for Missions. Be praying now about what you want to trust God to give you this year to support missions through First Church. Blessings!
