Our family took a short vacation a few weeks ago to The Lake of The Ozarks in Missouri. I know several of our First Church family, are trying to sneak in a vacation before school starts in two weeks. My son, Matt, and I played a round of golf (I hit him in the arm, accidentally... I am a very poor golfer so beware!). We all enjoyed swimming, ate Randy’s Frozen Custard, and we took in a movie. We don’t often go to movies, but there was one we were interested in seeing called Evan Almighty! It is a modern-day story of Noah. Evan is a married Junior Congressman who has three sons, plus lots of animals that begin to show up on his back lawn. It is a fun and wholesome movie for the whole family.
It reminded me of a piece about “Lessons Learned from Noah.” I’d like to share it for fun, and possible inspiration today…
• Plan ahead. It wasn’t raining when Noah built the ark.
• Stay fit. When you’re 600 years old, God may ask you to do something really BIG!
• Build on high ground.
• For safety’s sake, travel in pairs; two heads are better than one.
• Don’t forget we’re all in the same boat!
• When the doo-doo gets really deep, don’t just sit there and complain – begin to shovel!
• Stay below the deck during the storm.
• No matter how bleak it looks, there’s always a rainbow on the other side.
• Remember that the woodpeckers INSIDE are often a bigger threat than the storm outside.
• Remember that the ark was built by amateurs and the Titanic by professionals.
• Don’t miss the boat!
Does anyone remember how Noah got the original ark door closed? Check it out in Genesis 7:16!
Blessings to you all... see you Sunday!
