First Church is pleased to welcome Mark and Robin McAdow, and their three children: Matt (16), Hannah (12), and Lauren (9). They have served at Asbury United Methodist Church for the past 12 years where Mark was the Minister of Prayer and Evangelism.
Mark has been relying on the Lord since he was 11 years old. He grew up in a Christian home and was actively involved in Will Rogers UMC in Tulsa. A lay witness mission came to their church and he made the significant move from religion to relationship. In the following years, Mark had abundant opportunities to share his growing faith, attending Tulsa University and Asbury Theological Seminary in Kentucky. Mark met his future
wife, Robin, at the University of Tulsa Wesley Foundation. Mark was on the Student Council and Robin came to TU from ORU as Assistant Director of the Foundation. Staff couldn’t date students, so they were friends before they started dating. (They always laugh that Robin counseled all of Mark’s old girlfriends.) Mark stayed on in 1983 as a graduate intern while he refined his call to ministry. They married on June 16, 1984, at First United Methodist Church in Tulsa.
Robin is very involved in ministry herself, sharing her musical talents as a member of the worship team at Asbury’s contemporary service, and participating in Moms in Touch. Mark appreciates his wife and admires Robin’s godliness. “It’s reflected in everything she does. I’m challenged by her walk with the Lord. She’s beautiful inside and out.”
Mark definitely has a pastor’s heart with a desire to assist in the well-being of those he encounters. He also has an obvious zeal for evangelism. He finds absolute joy in being present when someone comes to the Lord.
The McAdows are excited to be part of the First Church family and ask for your prayers as they get settled in Oklahoma City.
