Second Wind Ministry!
It’s here! How can that be? Wasn’t last Sunday Easter?! Yes it was and what a great day it was at First Church! Pastors often get depressed when it rains on Easter Sunday, but last Sunday I was just thankful. We waited a long time for some refreshing rain. As I shared with the folks at our “Sunrise Service” – even the rain calls us to focus on our faith, because we know the sun is shining above the clouds! Even when our lives seem dark or challenging; the Son is always shining!
It’s Marathon Mania around the church. An “All hands on deck” reality! We need everyone who possibly can to be present and ready for service! This is our annual opportunity to fulfill our First Church Vision in a practical way: Connecting with God, Growing in Faith and Serving with Love! Thanks for all each of you do to “be the hands and feet of Jesus” this weekend, as we welcome folks into First Church for comfort, care, and blessing. Please be in prayer for this year’s outreach (in fact, if you’re willing to come and pray for the Marathon and runners during the event; please send me an E-mail or give me a call!). Just a reminder of the events of this weekend:
Friday and Saturday April 29 and 30 - We’ll be present at The Expo at The Cox Center cooking pancake “samples” and inviting people to First Church for our “Blessing of The Shoes” Saturday Night Service and our FREE Pancake Breakfast on Saturday morning from 5:30 -11:00 AM.
Saturday evening April 30 – At 5:00 PM I’ll be sharing words of greeting and prayer at The Pasta Dinner on the Murrah Plaza.
Saturday Evening April 30 –“Blessing of the Shoes” Service from 7:00 -8:00 PM. This is our Worship Service for the weekend. Please be present and invite a friend!
Sunday May 1 – Morning Worship Service at The Survivor Tree at 5:30AM hosted by First Church.
Second Wind Marathon Ministry – Sunday May 1 - Free Pancake Breakfast, Kid’s Area with inflatables, church facilities available for runners and more! It’s going to be another great time of ministry together with the First Church family and friends!
On a much more somber note; please be in prayer for the families who lost loved ones yesterday in Alabama and throughout the South in the worst tornado outbreak in America in the last four decades. We all lost a great man of God yesterday – David Wilkerson from Times Square Church in New York City – was killed in a tragic car accident. He wrote ‘The Cross and the Switchblade” and founded Teen Challenge. Robin and I had the privilege of hearing him preach in person last September and have been blessed by his ministry for many years. Our loss is certainly Heaven’s gain! As I write this, his wife Gwen is listed in critical condition. Please keep her and The Wilkerson Family in your prayers.
Live each day for Jesus!
In His Love,
Mark
See you here this weekend! Blessings -
