Hope you’ve enjoyed a good week “playing” in our latest snow storm!
Twelve inches of blowing snow – who could ask for more?! Really, we’ve had a very mild winter overall and we know it. Trust me - our family in New York would trade with us gladly! Have you seen some of the headlines across the nation? “Snow Daze!” “Enough!” Uncle!” as in “we cry 'uncle’!” The happiest people in Oklahoma this week have to be students and teachers who all received an unexpected “winter vacation.” As a kid, I always enjoyed snow days – still do, but now I have to do all the shoveling!
As I was thinking about the children out of school this week; I was reminded of a book on my shelf entitled, “Children’s Letters to God.” I thought it might be fun to share a few with you today – as you take a moment to remember your favorite snow days as a kid. Spending extra time with the Lord is always good! Spelling and punctuation as written:
Dear God, If you give me genie lamp like Alladin I will give you anything you want except my money or my chess set. Raphael
Dear God Maybe Cain and Abel would not kill each so much if they had their own rooms. It works with my brother. Larry
Dear God, My brother told me about being born but it doesn’t sound right. Marsha
Please Send me pony I never ask for anything before you can look it up Bruce
Dear-God-if-we-come-back as-something-please-don’t let-me-be Jennifer-Horton because-I-hate her. Denise
Dear God, I think about you sometimes even when I’m not praying Elliott
Dear God I don’t ever feel alone since I found out about you. Nora
Dear God, I am doing the best I can. Frank
Dear God, Thank you for the baby brother but what I prayed for was a puppy Joyce
Remember the words of Jesus, “I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” – Mark 10:15
Dear God –Please put another Holiday between Christmas and Easter. There is nothing good in there now. Ginny
Maybe The Lord answered Ginny’s prayer with this week’s snow! Be safe and stay warm! Our parking lots were plowed yesterday so we should be good to go on Sunday. Looking forward to seeing each of you then! God is good!
In His Love,
Mark
PS – Remember our Souper Bowl of Caring offering this Sunday to help support
