From the very beginning God created us to be in communion with Him. In the second chapter of Genesis we find the Creator of the universe placing His most treasured creation, man, in a garden, paradise itself, made to sustain and please His beloved for all eternity. In the original Hebrew, the words used to describe God's action are viyashem sham, which indicates that God actually picked Adam up and set Him down in this special place He created just for him. Adam did nothing to deserve such a place, nor did he use his own feet to get there. God did everything because of His great love for him. Because of Adam's disobedience, however, his perfect world and the relationship between mankind and God was shattered. Since that time, it has been God's sole mission to restore the relationship with His most precious creation... us.
The role of the Worship and Fine Arts Ministry of First Church is to provide worship experiences in which all people, regardless of age, cultural background, socio-economic status, or life experience, can restore that lost relationship, and in so doing, can experience the meaning, purpose and freedom He brings to each life. Through music, dance, pageantry, drama and the visual arts, we desire to draw those who are searching for the Love they are missing and to provide modes of expression to the Love we've found.
We invite you to come.
