“I will extol you, my God and King,
and bless your name forever and ever.
Every day I will bless you
and praise your name forever and ever.
Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised,
and his greatness is unsearchable.”
“The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.” —Timothy 1:5
“Let no one despite you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.” —1 Timothy 4:12
Youth grow quickly— much more quickly than we do as we get older. As a youth pastor, then, I get to see some amazing things. I get to see youth grow and mature right before my eyes. I get to see them learn about the Lord and build up their love for Him. I get to see the Holy Spirit work in their lives and do wonderful acts through them. I love being a youth pastor, and the Lord frequently reminds me that it is a privilege to be present in the midst of His own workings within the youth group.
This Sunday is Youth Sunday. The First Church youth are excited to serve the congregation and to be able to minister to First Church. We are praying that this service would honor the Lord and that His goodness would shine through our lives. We also love to have fun, and this Sunday will be no different! Youth have a special energy about them. Sometimes I think that they value certain things as importantly as they should be valued, whereas some of us (myself as a prime example) that have grown older don’t see things with the same zeal that we used to. My prayer as the youth pastor is that First Church would be ministered to by the youth, and that we would be refreshed in the Spirit throughout the service. Come with an open mind and an expectant heart, and be ready to praise and glorify our incredible God this Sunday!
