IN THE CITY
WITH A HEART
FOR THE CITY
At First Church we are passionate about worship, because through corporate worship we are able to affirm as a family of faith the goodness of God, the reality of the life, death, and resurrection of Christ, and the presence of the Holy Spirit. Through corporate worship we see the gifts of God at work in amazing ways.

We believe God has a plan for Oklahoma City. We are a city with amazing potential for a bright and thriving future. At First United Methodist Church of Oklahoma City we believe we are part of God’s plan for continuing development and revitalization of the downtown and midtown districts. We have been a staple in our neighborhood since 1889 and we are proud to be a church in the heart of Oklahoma City with a heart for the city. We love being part of our vibrant neighborhoods as we partner with local businesses and agencies across our area to help make downtown and midtown great places to raise families. If God calls you to First Church, we look forward to you being part of our family of faith as we partner with local schools, reach out to the downtown homeless population, collaborate with the OKC National Memorial and Museum, and make a difference in our neighborhoods.
The special relationship between First Church and Gatewood Elementary is growing and maturing as we reach out to this neighborhood public school. We believe public education is one of the great social justice issues of our day and we believe making a difference in a local school is the beginning of make real and sustainable change.
Our Friday Night Alive worship service and congregation is designed to reach and minister to the downtown homeless population. This dynamic ministry combines a rich combination of compassionate love and heart-felt worship.
Whiz Kids is an after school tutoring program for at risk OKC public school children. The lives of dozens of students each year are impacted because of the devotion and commitment of our wonderful volunteer tutors.
We are honored to be sharing our space with The Christ Experience, a sister United Methodist congregation. In this era of political, social, and racial division we believe it's imperative the church lead with way with a prophetic voice for unity. We believe that two churches with distinctive histories, visions, and passions sharing space can be a powerful image of the Kingdom of God. We hope you will join us in this journey together for two churches in one building.
